„Firespilling Star“
by Kismet Hardy

Northamptonshire Contemporary \"Funky Folk\" Quartet Kismet Hardy comprise Singer-songwriters Kate Beresford (vocals/tin whistles) and Jon Delaney (acoustic guitars/vocals), completed by the distinctive rhythmic drive of Cajon percussionist Rai Clews and the singing five string fretless bass of Kevin T Ward. The band formed in late 2010 through shared passions for folk and funk and the desire to create truly unique songs with a sound of all of their own by combining the best of the lyrical, emotional and melodic intensity of traditional folk with the groove of funk and the energy of indie. Now armed with their rousing, tuneful, poetic and haunting original storytelling songs Kismet Hardy guarantee an energetic and engaging experience to move your heart, your head and your feet. Rai plays a custom made cajon constructed from 200 year old tiger stripe oak from an upcycled, water damaged, English church pew by his wife and Artist in Wood, Fiona Kingdon (www.fionakingdon.co.uk) The cajon has two playing faces, one with a snare and the other unsnared - the sound hole being in the side. Rai does not sit on the cajon but sits behind it and tilts it to rest on his leg for extended playing comfort and, he feels, a more resonant sound. This recording features our original song, \"Firespilling Star\" written by the band and was filmed at Banbury Folk Club.
